At 6.00pm in the dusk, 24 of us braved the threatening weather to listen to Martin Papworth the Wessex Region of the National Trust Archaeologist describe the several military artifacts at Redhead point. The gun emplacement built early in the last war proved a good sound shell and shelter from the elements. This photo of Fort Henry was taken on another day. |

Paul and Elaine fed us well and Martin presented an excellent slide review of the way in which the Studland terrain had been used over the centuries for the defence of the mainland and for the training of our and allied troops in the two world wars. |
