| The Harp Society of NSW
Inc is delighted to have organised the first Sydney Harp Eisteddfod The competition took place on Sunday, 16th October 2005 at Santa Sabina College, Strathfield. There were 19 entrants across 12 categories and a great afternoon of competition and music making was experienced by all those that attended. Click here to see photographs of the day The results were as follows: SECTION A: SOLO - For both non-pedal and pedal harp players Category 1: Junior (10 years & under) - Grade 1 - 2 Winner: Anastasia Serafimovska Category 3: Intermediate (11 - 14 years) - Grade 1 - 2 Winners: Mhairi Pierce, Lisa Smoleniec, Lochlann Teahan-Thomson Category 4: Intermediate (11 - 14 years ) - Grade 3 - 4 Winner: Imogen Yates Highly Commended: Sophie Yates, Courtney Walcott, Great Britten, Laura Minns Category 7: Senior (15 - 18 years) - Grade 3 - 4 Winner: Katie Mortimer Highly Commended: Annabel Wurth Category 8: Senior (15 - 18 years) - Grade 5+ Winners: Clare McDonogh, Maryanne Tucker Category 11: Young adult (19+ years) - Grade 5+ Winner: Hilary Manning SECTION B: SOLO - For both non-pedal and pedal harp players Category 1: Mature age students: Encouragement Award (40+ years) Winner: Michael Burns SECTION C: SOLO - For folk harp players only Category 1: Folk harp junior (under 18 years) Winner: Greta Britten Highly Commended: Gillian Redmond Category 2: Folk harp senior (over 18 years) Winner: Michael Burns Category 3: Self-accompanied vocal (open age) Winner: Sophia Le Vitzki Highly Commended: Melody Pyrke SECTION D: GROUP - For folk and pedal harp players Category 1: Folk harp + other instrument/s (open age) Winners: Lochlann, Naoise & Aisling Teahan-Thomson (folk harp, cello and violin) Category 2: Pedal harp + other instrument/s (open age) Winners: Maryanne Tucker & Claire Robinson (pedal harp and flute) Highly Commended: Katie & Niki Mortimer (pedal harp and flute) and Lisa Smoleniec & Aislinn Drury (pedal harp and flute) |
